Why convert GIF to Live Photo?
Live Photos usually look sharper than GIFs on iPhone, animate only when pressed (better for battery), and work well as lock screen wallpapers. This free online converter keeps files in your browser and prepares the MOV used in that workflow.
How to convert GIF to Live Photo
- Upload an animated GIF (smooth, short clips work best).
- Choose quality and max duration.
- Convert and download the MOV + JPEG keyframe.
- Transfer both files to iPhone via AirDrop or Files.
- Save the MOV to Photos. It should appear as a Live Photo after import.
- Set as wallpaper: Settings → Wallpaper → Add New Wallpaper → Photos → Live Photo. Enable Live (concentric circles), then tap Add.
Physical iPhone verification of this full workflow is still pending. The browser export is not a true Apple Live Photo until imported through Photos on iOS.
